I’ve always loved George Lakoff’s work. I use his theory on metaphor to teach my writing classes at the university. Recently, he was interviewed on truthout.org. He talks about “progressive framing” in the 2008 presidential election as well as the irony of conservatives who “say” they are against big government, yet they elect someone who, in more ways than one, is the epitome of big government when it comes to eliminating constitutional rights (i.e., wiretapping, unitary executive, disregard for habeas corpus, etc.)
